Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica in Lyon, France

An exceptional performance of Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica supplemented with video projections!

In the program you will hear excerpts from “The Art of Instrumentation: A Tribute to Glenn Gould” – works of J. S. Bach inspired by and dedicated to one of the most celebrated classical pianists of the 20th century, the legendary performer of J. S. Bach – Glenn Gould.

With Gidon Kremer there is only one step from J. S. Bach to A. Piazzolla! Later in the program – Suite Punta del Este by Astor Piazzolla, where original bandoneon is replaced with a vibraphone (Andrei Pushkarov). The evening is completed with Second Violin Concerto “The American Four Seasons” by Philip Glass. Inspired by A. Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”, the work of P. Glass enables the listener to decide which part of the piece represents specific season of the year.

During the concert you will see video projections by Jonas Mekas (*1922), a filmmaker, poet and artist of Lithuanian origin who has often been called “the godfather of American avant-garde cinema,” Rimas Sakalauskas (*1985), youngest generation video artist from Lithuania; Adam Magyar (*1972), Berlin-based Hungarian photographer; and Pingo van der Brinkloev, Danish high end visual effects artist.

50th Music Festival of Touraine, France

Kremerata Baltica is giving a couple of concerts in the 50th Music Festival of Touraine in France.

On 14th  of June, you can hear Kremerata Baltica and Gidon Kremer (violin) at “Grange De Meslay,” playing excerpts from “The Art of Instrumentation: A Tribute to Glenn Gould” – works of J. S. Bach inspired by records of one of the most celebrated classical pianists of the 20th century – Glenn Gould. Also in the program of the evening – Second Violin Concerto “The American Four Seasons” by Philip Glass. Inspired by A. Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”, the work of P. Glass gives “no instructions for the audience, no clues as to where Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall might appear in the new concerto – an interesting, though not worrisome, problem for the listener“ (Philip Glass).

On 15th of June, Kremerata Baltica will perform together with Gidon Kremer (violin), Yulianne Avdeeva (piano), and Andrei Pushkarov (vibraphone) as soloists. Inspiring program of works by F. Schubert, W. A. Mozart, F. Chopin, and A. Piazzolla.
