KREMERATA BALTICA FESTIVAL 2018 – “THE WIND OF CENTRAL EUROPE”
For the 15th year in a row, Kremerata Baltica hosts its own festival in Latvia. This year in Jūrmala, at Dzintari concert hall during the period September 13-16.
The main concept of this year’s festival is freedom and democracy. As an important leitmotif of the festival is the Wind that symbolises the dynamic changes in the history and culture of the Latvian nation. And similar to that also in the history of other Central and Eastern European countries. Throughout the last century, different regimes have attempted to control us, yet justice has won. And today we are thankful and proud to celebrate free and independent countries. For us it’s The Republic of Latvia. An rather similar story can be told also about other countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
Therefore we proudly present this year’s festival “THE WIND OF CENTRAL EUROPE”.
Similar to the other two Baltic States – Lithuania and Estonia – this year Latvia is celebrating it’s 100th year of Independence. This festival is jut like a dedication, our love for our country and “For Latvia’s Centenary”.
As part of the celebration, Kremerata Baltica will perform pieces by various European as well as Latvian composers. In the 4 festival days, Kremerata will present you the music of F.Liszt, B.Bartok, F.Chopin, V.Silvestrov, H.M.Gorecki, L.Janáček, A.Dvorak, M.Magin, H.Krasa, E.Schulhoff, K.Pētersons, J.Karlsons and P.Vasks.
As usually, Kremerata Baltica and Gidon Kremer has prepared a special selection of soloists and artists to perform together with.
