Lina Marija Songailė

Second Violin

Lithuanian violinist Lina Marija Songailė (Domarkaitė) was born in Kaunas in 1990. She is a laureate of numerous national and international competitions: 1st Prize and a special award as the brightest participant of the international competition at “Gradus ad Parnassum” (Lithuania, 2004), laureate of the XIII Balys Dvarionas national competition (Lithuania, 2004), 3rd Prize at the Saulius Sondeckis International Violin Competition (Lithuania, 2006) and 1st Prize at “Premio Violinistico Gasparo da Salo” international festival (Italy, 2008).

Lina Marija began her musical training at the age of 4 at the Eduardas Balsys School of Arts in Klaipėda. Her first teacher was her mother Saulutė Domarkienė. From 2006 to 2009 she attended the Academy Incontro col Maestro in Imola, Italy. Lina Marija holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Graz, Austria- prof. Silvia Marcovici, and Masters degree with honors in Music Performance at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Switzerland, prof. Pavel Berman. 

As a soloist, her concert activity has taken Lina Marija to Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Russia and Sweden. She has appeared at many international festivals including “Kaunas 2007” (Lithuania), “Vladimir Spivakov Invites” (Russia, 2008), “Gasparo da Salo” (Italy, 2008), “Livorno Music Festival” (Italy, 2011), “Pažaislis Music Festival“ (Lithuania, 2002-2011), “Mykolas Oginskis festival“ (Lithuania, 2012), and others.

At the age of 6, Lina Marija made her debut with Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra. Since then she has performed with Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, Klaipeda State Music Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Kaunas State Chamber Orchestra, Oginskis Festival Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra “Russian Camerata”, Styria/Lithuania Youth Symphony Orchestra (Lithuania/Austria) where she collaborated with conductors Saulius Sondeckis, Ilmars Lapinsch, Pavel Berman, Andrej Kruzkov, Stanislovas Čepinskis, Vytautas Lukočius.

In 2006 L. M. Songailė attended the National Academy for students under the guidance of M. Rostropovich. She participated in further master classes where she received coaching from professors Zakhar Bron, Liana Issakadze, Ivry Gitlis, Pavel Berman, Yuri Mazurkevich, Dalia Pomeransaite-Mazurkevich, Evgeny Durnovo, Alexander Gilman.

Out of a large number of applicants from all over Europe Lina Marija was selected to participate at the “GMJO Summer tour 2013” where she had an opportunity to play under the baton of Felix Jordan in such halls as Felsenreitschule (“Salzburger Festspiele“, Salzburg), Concertgebouw (“Robeco Zomerconcerten“, Amsterdam), Royal Albert Hall (“BBC Proms“, London), Semperoper (Sachsische Staatskapelle, Dresden).

Lina Marija has joined Kremerata Baltica in 2014.
