XIV Kremerata Baltica festival
The legendary chamber orchestra Kremerata Baltica returns to Latvia for the annual XIV Kremerata Baltica festival. This year the festival takes place September 14-17 at Dzintaru concert hall in Jūrmala.
This year’s festival will be closely connected with the origins of the orchestra itself – the convergence of the cultures and musicians of all three Baltic states. And that is why this year we celebrate that our home is the Baltics.
The Opening concert “VIVA MOZART!” takes place on September 14 and will be dedicated to Mozart. You will also be able to hear the music by the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. To perform on stage alongside Kremerata Baltica we have invited the former member of the orchestra Eva Bindere (violin), as well as Santa Vižine (alto), Kristīne Gailīte (soprano), Reinut Tepp (organ), and the Riga Cathedral Girls’ Choir TIARA, conductor – Martynas Stakionis.
During the second day of the festival, Friday, September 15, a special role will be given to Latvian music. The program of the concert “COUNTERPOINTS OF ONEGIN. DEDICATION TO GEORGS PELĒCIS” is built from a special compilation of pieces by the Latvian composer Georgs Pelēcis. Soloists: Elīna Šimkus (soprano), Kalvis Kalniņš (baritone), Džeraldas Bidva (violin), Georgy Osokin (piano), Andrius Žlabys (piano), Pēteris Trasuns (viola), Jānis Porietis (trumpet).
The concert “KREMERATA KAMERATA. In memoriam Pēteris Plakidis” which takes place on Saturday, September 16 will be especially emotional because the concert is dedicated to the beloved Latvian composer Pēteris Plakidis. The works by Pēteris Plakidis as well as Leonid Desjatnikov, Sulkhan Tsintsadze, Leonid Desyatnikov and Nikolai Kapustin will be performed by soloists and different ensembles of Kremerata Baltica, as well as the virtuoso and charming Avi Avital (mandolin), Sandis Šteinbergs (violin), Pēteris Trasuns (viola), Georgy Osokin and Andrius Žlabys (piano).
The GALA CONCERT. VIVA THE KEYBOARD! will take place on Sunday, September 17. Program: Andrius Žlabys, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki , Anna Clyne, Jēkabs Jančevskis, Pēteris Plakidis. All this has been prepared in a special interpretation by Kremerata Baltica, Avi Avital (mandolin), Georgy Osokin (piano), Andrius Žlabys (piano) and Reinut Tepp (harpsichord).
