Charity chamber concert in London

Several Kremerata Baltica members and artistic leader of the orchestra – Gidon Kremer – will perform together with a Russian film, theater and TV actress Chulpan Khamatova in “Verse and Music Give the Gift of Life: Wings of Everyday Life” on 12th January 2016, 19:30 at St. Paul’s Church, Covent Garden, London.

After premiering with resounding success in Riga in September 2015, a truly unique performance, Wings of Everyday Life will showcase at St. Pauls’s Church in Covent Garden in aid of the Gift of Life Foundation.

“Wings of Everyday Life” is a musical and poetic performance that unites the poetry of Marina Tsvetaeva and Aspazija. Chulpan Khamatova, creator of this inspirational merging, is not only a marvellous poetry reader but also a true literary expert who has identified a plethora of echoing rhymes, meanings and references between these two poets’ works. The musical part of the performance is no less complex than the poetic. Gidon Kremer and the Kremerata Baltica musicians bring together the Russian classicist Pyotr Tchaikovsky, the contemporary Ukranian composer Valentin Silvestrov, the “king of tango” Oskars Stroks and the Latvian composer Georgs Pelecis.

“Gift of life,” a leading Russian children’s cancer charity, would like to thank Vadim Levin for his assistance and financial support. All funds raised from ticket sales will go to the “Gift of Life” foundation to purchase the expensive foreign medicine needed for children with oncohaematological illnesses in hospitals in Russia.
