Kremerata Baltica and Gidon Kremer awarded with the Latvian Cultural Excellency Award
On December 4, Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra were awarded with the Latvian Cultural Excellency Award that for the third year is now awarded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.
The Latvian Cultural Excellency award symbolises the recognition of the state of Latvia for outstanding international achievements in culture, which have made a significant contribution to promotion of the cultural values of Latvia, have promoted a positive image of Latvia, have made Latvia a prestige in the world and have increased the value of culture in the Latvian society.
“This long-term oriented artistic, musical and educational project is a way how the grand master Kremer forwards his experience and knowledge to the young musicians, and without compromising the quality and professional standards, inspires the growth of young musicians in Latvia and the whole Baltic region. During the 20 years of its (Kremerata Baltica) existence this extremely talented group of young musicians has developed into one of the best all time international chamber orchestras in the world, and ensured itself an excellent reputation by performing in the most recognised and prestigious concert halls, as well as receiving numerous international awards.” – this is how the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia arguments its choice to provide this year’s award to Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica.
