Ingars Ģirnis


Ingars Ģirnis was born in Latvia. In 2000 he graduated from Jazeps Vitols Latvian Music Academy with a Master’s Degree in string quartet and Bachelor in viola. He also improved his knowledge in classes at Le Conservatoire de Paris, France and Birmingham Conservatoire, United Kingdom.

Ģirnis is a winner of First Latvian String Quartet Competition (2000) and Chamber Music Competition at Birmingham Conservatoire (2006). He attended master classes with Hartmuth Rhode, Ysaye string quartet, Rivka Golani, and others.

As a soloist Ingars mostly performed with Latvian Music Academy and Birmingham Conservatoire. Lately Ingars has played at many chamber music festivals in Austria, Russia, Latvia, France, United Kingdom, Germany, and other countries. He is also a member of Corellian String Quartet (United Kingdom). Ingars Ģirnis has joined  Kremerata Baltica in 2001.
