Jevgēnija Frolova
Viola

Born in Riga, Latvia, Jevgenija was introduced to violin at the age of 6. After graduating from music school she switch to the viola – at the same time youth opera projects in Latvian National Opera, as Amahl and the Night Visitors by G.C.Menotti and Noah’s Flood by B.Britten made a huge impression on her and formed the dream of becoming a professional musician more clear and vibrant.

At the age 18, she had her solo debut together with the violinist Paula Sumane at the International Youth Music Festival in Rodachtal, where she performed the Sinfonia Concertante  by W.A. Mozart.

She received her Bachelor degree at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2013 as a student of Prof. Lars Anders Tomter and Prof. Tim Frederiksen. A few years later, she continued her education in Copenhagen in Postgraduate program, and began her studies with Prof. Thomas Selditz at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna.

From very early time as a violist until now, Jevgenija is discovering the colourful palette of  chamber music making. From her recent 2018-2019 activities one could mention participation in the Angelika-Prokopp-Sommerakademie der Wiener Philharmoniker, Salzburger Festspiele, Christian Altenburger in the MuTh: String Sounds, Young Podium Schloss Loosdorf, Loisarte Festival, Con Anima Festival, etc.

Her professional orchestral experience among others includes Musica Vitae chamber orchestra (Sweden),  Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra and Danish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (Denmark). Since January 2019 Jevgenija is a member of Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra.
